Abstract:
In this study a new wind power generation system known asINVELOX is investigated as an alternative approach for theconventional wind turbines. INVELOX has manyadvantages in comparison with the conventional windturbines. Preparing an appropriate numerical simulation forthis system is a quite demanding purpose due to theinteraction between wind flow and the intricate turbinegeometry. A full structured 3d grid is applied for theNumerical simulation. In the first step, the numericalsimulation is validated using the experimental data.Afterwards, the performance of the INVELOX isinvestigated by employing the numerical simulation as afunction of wind speed. Furthermore, the effect of venturiconfigurations on the system operation is obtained for twodifferent diameters. The results revealed that, the INVELOXhas an approximately constant trend of performance byincreasing the wind velocity as well as the possibility toincrease energy harvest by decreasing the throat area.
