Detection of Meta Stable Pitting Corrosion by Electrochemical Noise abstract
Electrochemical noise data in the presence of Meta stable pitting corrosion analyzed. The measurements were made on carbon steel API 5L (X60) in 0.5 M NaHeD] and 0O. 3M NaCl Current noise and potential noise were monitored simultaneously. using a three-electrode configuration under an open-circuit potential The experiments were carried out at ambient temperature with deaeration. The time series records revealed that fluctuation of current and. potential noise increased and decreased, respectively by addition of chloride ion concentration. Values of localization index, skewness and kurtosis depend on Meta stable pitting corrosion during incubation time .The SEM image confirmed results obtained from statistical analysis. The roll off slope of power
spectral density plots of the current noise was analyzed to correlate the nature of the attack on an electrode surface as function from a chloride ion concentration. Noise resistance appeared to be a promisingparameterto a monitoring corrosion rate.
