Imidazoline Salts As Corrosion Inhibitor for Carbon Steel in Formation Water abstract
The inhibitive action of two water soluble corrosion inhibitors which include Imidawline salts on the corrosion ofC.Stee~ used in the manu:facturering of petroleum pipelines, in formation water was evaluated. The inhibition efficiency was calculated using weight loss measurements and. potentiostatic polarization technique. It was found
that these inhtbitors exhibited a very good performance for steel corrosion in formation water. The inhIbition efficiency increases with an increase in inhibitor concentration. Tmidswline is the active ingredient of the inhibitor package and. its molecular structure is presented as follows: The theoretical results indicate that Imidazoline is the more efficient corrosion inhtbitor because of two very active sites (two nitrogen atoms) and the plan geometry of the
heterocyclic ring, thus promoting coordination with the metal surface.
