Abstract:

This work provides a brief and useful review of recent researches and novel achievements to fabricate NiTi shape memory alloys from powders. Additionally the effect of different parameters on microstructure, mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and bioactivity of this shape memory alloy will be discussed. NiTi alloys have drawn significant attention in recent years in aerospace and biomedical applications due to their excellent properties and special attention has been paid to the use of powder metallurgy among different fabrication methods. This paper first provides a summary of all powder metallurgical manufacturing methods and then examines the effective parameters before and during the manufacturing. At the end, a novel functional structure is introduced and a brief summary of its employed fabrication methods is given. The aim of this paper is to present the main results of experiments in the form of the tables and charts which provide a quick comparison.
