A Novel Channel Drop tunable filter based on photonic crystal ring resonators suitable for DWDM applications abstract

In this paper we have designed a novel optical filter based on 2-D photonic crystals using some various types of ring resonators. We have made input and output waveguides by removing the upper and lower rods of the ring resonator. The adaptable PBG (Photonic Band Gap) for our work is in TM mode so all of our calculations are in TM mode. It is shown that increasing the Radius of rods of the ring resonator causes increase in the amount of selected wavelength at output. Moreover, it is shown that our device is completely adaptable with DWDM applications. To realize that matter FDTD and PWE methods, which are the most proper methods, have been used
