Abstract:

Endometrial cancer is the third common cancer among women after uterine and ovarian cancers. In 2012, 320000 of people were diagnosed with endometrial cancer and 76000 of them died because ofthis cancer. According to the studies, obesity/overweight is the cause of many diseases, including cancers. Evidence express that obesity/overweight increases the risk of endometrial cancer by up to40%. The effect of obesity in women on the risk for endometrial cancer is probably arbitrated by the increase in serum concentrations of estradiol and the decrease in serum concentrations of sexhormone-binding globulin. In this study, we evaluated the association of obesity/overweight and endometrial cancer on 74 patients with endometrial cancer referred to the clinic during 4 months. Theyfilled the questionnaire including name, age, weight and height. Then, we analyzed the information with SPSS software (version 20). A p-value of ≤0.05 was considered to indicate statistical significance.41,891% of patients with endometrial cancer were overweight/ obese (BMI> 30). According to the results, obesity/overweight may have a potential role in facing and developing endometrial cancer. We propose that besides the chemotherapy or other treatments, regular physical activities and correct the wrong nutritional habits (actually the diet rich in high fruits and vegetable and less in saturated or totalfat) may have a key role in losing weight and improving the cancers.
