Abstract:

Oxidative stress reflects an imbalance between the systemic manifestation of reactive oxygen species and a biological system s ability to readily detoxify the reactive intermediates or to repair the resultingdamage. Disturbances in the normal redox state of cells can cause toxic effects through the production of peroxides and free radicals that damage all components of the cell, including proteins, lipids, andDNA. Schiff bases are aldehyde- or ketone-like compounds in which the carbonyl group is replaced by an imine or azomethine group. They are widely used for industrial purposes and also exhibit a broadrange of biological activities including anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antimicrobial, anticonvulsant, anticonvulsant, anticancer, antioxidant and antidepressant. The aim of this study is to evaluate the antioxidant activity of Schiff bases complex N,N di pirodexil 1,4 butadiene by ABTS and DPPH methods. The antioxidant and free radical-scavenging activity were measured by 1,1-diphenyl-2- picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) methods. DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) chemical is used to measure the antioxidant activity of the substances. Dissolving the DPPH in 96% ethanol form free radicals, which is mostly absorbed at 517 nm and becomes purple. ABTS (2,2 -azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid)) chemical is used to measure the antioxidant activity of the substances and its radical form has absorbance at 734 nm. If any substance has antioxidant activity, decreasing amount of absorbance of both radicals and changes their colors. results showed the antioxidant effects of Schiff bases complex N,N di pirodexil 1,4 butadiene through scavenging of DPPH and ABTS free radicals. The values of IC50 for DPPH and ABTS were above 500 μg/ml and 60μg/ml, respectively. results of this study indicated the potential antioxidant properties of Schiff bases complex N,N di pirodexil 1,4 butadiene, which could be used as a strong antioxidant in the treatment of cancer. However, more studies should be performed in order to confirm data
