Application of Composite Compliant Coating for Turbulent Flow Drag Reduction abstract

We have designed a new type of flexible surface and simulate the interaction of this surface with a near-wall turbulent flow. This coating is constructed by combined together both members in tension and members in compression to form a plate – network structure, then covering this deiscrete flexible structure with a continous memberan. We have modeled the flow interaction by coupling a Direct Numerical simulation (DNS) code resolving the turbulent flow. An moving boundary Method (MBM) is used to capture the effect of the moving boundary in the DNS . Our ultimataim is to use this new simulation tool to design of the coating
