Abstract:
Dams are huge and costly structures. As a result, seismic assessment and safety of gravity dam are of particular importance given the catastrophic consequences of dam failure in a strong earthquake. In the event of a earthquake, the dam is forced to oscillate, due to this vibration in the reservoir environment, in addition to the hydrostatic pressure of the water, the hydrodynamic pressure of the waves is created that this dynamic interaction affects dam response and often increases The dam response. Due to the fact that earthquake forces through the foundation to the dam. Thus, one of the most important factors in the investigation of the stability of these huge structures during the earthquake is the effect of the foundation and the recognition of its behavior in the response of the dams to earthquake stimulation. Hence, one of the most important effects on dam response is the effects of the site. In this article, the behavior of Pine Flat Dam is studied under several different records using software (ABAQUS).
