Comparison Study of Fastness Properties in Yarn Dyed with Chrozophora Tinctoria with Taguchi Method abstract

The introduction of synthetic dyes, in the middle of the 19th century, led to an almost completereplacement of natural dyes due to the favourable application properties of synthetic dyes. Nowadays there is growing interest in the revival of natural dyes in textile dyeing, arguments based around keywords such as sustainability development, green chemistry and improved eco-balances. Chrozorophora tinctoria is the annual plant with alternate leaves, stipulate, tomentouse from Euphorbiaceae which distribute widely in IRAN. This plant is counted among weed in pastures and uncultivated lands. Economical control of plant can be important role in sustainable development and ecological efficiency of system. Composition extracted from plant is flavonoids and anthroquinones. In this research pigmented constituents is extracted by McIlvaine buffer in pH 2 & 6, then is used for dyeing wool yarn with taguchi method. Experiments are performed with regarding to effectivness parameters in dyeing for two mordant (Fe & Sn). Results showed kind of mordant effects on fastness properties. Light fastness of dyed wool yarn with Fe mordant is better than Sn mordant. Also wet & light fastness properties in dyeing with Fe depended on concentration of chromogen. Wet fastness of samples with Sn were more better than Fe.
