A survey on abortion laws in Asian countries

the issue of abortion permit and legalize abortion is one of the issues influenced by the juridical, legal and political matters of each country so it has had different sentences in different times. The intentional abortion is considered as a crime in most laws, with the exception of those authorized for medical and non-medical concerns.In order to prevent the consequences of illegal abortion and more protection of women s rights, further researches are needed to establish or modify the rules with a new attitude to the question of abortion. For this purpose, the present study is a comparative study of abortion laws in Asian countries. The results indicate that Asian countries have chosen similar procedures for abortion permits, and the final tendency of most Asian countries is to allow abortion in situations such as saving mother s life, rape or adultery with near relatives, fetal defects and special social/economic conditions.
