Greenhouse Crop Production, Advantages and Potentials

Greenhouse crops production is a developing industry in most countries. Because of some special limitations and considerations, it will be developed faster in Iran comparing some other countries in our region. During last two decades, advantages of this method of fresh crops production are well understood, but there are few reports or data published to show the generally said advantages . In this lecture, some paper based data and case studies are reviewed and presented to help Iranian national decision makers to decide more easily and properly. After a brief introduction on greenhouse industry and crop production methods, data obtained from a FAO national TCP projects and some national statistics will be explained. Water use, labor need, some economic considerations and other useful notes will be further discussed. At the end of presentation, potential economic advantages of Iran against some other countries will be highlighted
