Numerical Study of Fluid Flow across Cam Shape Tube Bank abstract
The main objective of this numerical study is to investigate air flow across cam shape tube bank. The effect of the tube shape on heat transfer and pressure drop were determined. The arrangements of tubes are staggered with longitudinal pitch of I. 73 and transverse pitch of 1.25 and 2. The maximum Reynolds number based on equivalent circular tube are within Results show that heat transfer and pressure drop increases by about 40 to 85 percent and about 175 percent respectively when transverse pitch decreases from 2 to 1.25. Pressure drop of the cam shape tube is less than that of circular tube bank about 20 to 35 percent but the heat transfer of the circular tube is more than that of cam shaped tube bank about I to 7 percent with the same surface area and transverse pitch.
