Review of the Bio-Eٍnergy Technology in Shiraz abstract

Utilization of biogas fuels is important not only for energy recovery but also for preventing environmental pollution. The objective of this paper is to discuss the application of current method for the production of biogas from the municipal wastes in Shiraz landfill. With more than 600 tones of daily wastes and assuming the efficiency of obtainable gas to be 25%, biogas production with methane fermentation is estimated to be more than 1500 m3 per day. This is equivalent to about 2250 KWh of electricity. The benefits and costs of energy obtained through this method are also discussed.
