Magnetic Nanofluids: Preparation, Properties And Applications abstract

Magnetic nanofluids are typically suspensions of magnetic nanoparticles, which manifest simultaneously fluid and magnetic properties. The production of nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution and the achievement of colloidal stability in polar and nonpolar carriers are important technological issues. The ability of the ferrofluid to respond to an external magnetic field in a controllable manner has made it emerge as asmart materials in a variety of technological applications, such as seals, lubricants, heat transfer, shock absorbers, adaptive optics, sensors as well as energy harvesting devices and also biomedical applications such as cell separation, hyperthermia, MRI, drug targeting. In this study, an oil-based ferrofluid with sterical stabilization was prepared by the chemical co-precipitation method and its magnetic properties were evaluated byvibrating-sample magnetometer(VSM). Also, this paper takes a glance at the recent progress on the study of nanofluids, such as the preparation methods, the stability mechanisms of ferrofluids, and presents some of the ferrofluid applications in various technological fields
