Conceptual model of Technology Appendix of Iran upstream oil contracts abstract
Nowadays, crossing the path of technology development in developing countries would not be as effective as indeveloped countries in terms of time and cost. Therefore, developing countries are trying to establish collaborationswith developed countries to enhance domestic technological capabilities through joint contracts in different fields. Inthis regard Technology Appendix of international contracts has recently been considered by Iranian science andtechnology policymakers as a major concept for upgrading technological capabilities and learning. So that all thepublic executive agencies tasked to draw up Technology Appendix as a part of their major international contracts.Due to the crucial role of technology in oil production and enhancing recovery factor of oil fields, transfer anddevelopment of technology is one of the most important basis for designing the new Iranian upstream oil contracts.So, this article attempts to present a systemic model for designing the contract articles related to technology and alsotext of technology appendix of Iran oil contract. For designing such a model, major functions of technologyappendix are identified from comparative studies and related national strategic documents analysis. Functions,related policies and related actors to each function are the inputs of the model. Main process of the model isidentifying the type of technology target areas (TTAs), collaboration structure and mechanism and evaluationindicators. Related articles for the body of contract and technology appendix are the output of the model.
