Abstract:
Australia has increased its science and technology research collaboration with Asia, reflecting the move ofeconomic focus from the West to the East. Using the example of the chemical sciences, we have employedbibliometrics to provide quantitative data on outcomes of international research collaboration. Data wereobtained from the Thomson-Reuters global database of research lliterature. The countries selected were thosewhose chemical societies are memebrs of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies. A more detailed analysiswas performed for the case of India. Australia-India research collaboration has been the focus of increasedinvestment by both national governments, in a suatained diplomatic initiative over recent eyars.
