Abstract:

Distribution network operators (DNOs) tend to supplyelectrical energy to its customers in an economical andreliable manner. If distributed generation (DG) unitsare planned with a suitable way, they will be the bestoption to reduce costs and increase the distributionnetwork reliability. This paper proposes a DG unitsplanning model to determine technology type, capacityand location of DG units to reduce power losses andimprove reliability and voltage profile in network.Objective function is a cost function which minimizesthe investment and operation cost of DGs, purchasecosts of the upstream network, defined cost toreliability index and the energy losses. In this study,electrical load is time variable and model is simulatedon a typical radial network, successfully. GAMSsoftware which is well known software to solvingoptimization problems is used to simulate.
