Abstract:
RELAP5/SCDAP and CONTAIN are two widely usedsevere accident computer codes for the integral analysisof the core and containment behaviour following thecore degradation. Because the containment is animportant factor in mitigating the consequences of asevere accident, it is necessary to assess its integrity afterthe accident has taken. The objective of the paper is theevaluation of thermal hydraulic behaviour of the PWRplant on core damage progression. The analyzedtransient was Large Break Loss-of-Coolant (LBLOCA)without actuation of safety injection system (SIS). TheRELAP5/SCDAP output used as input to CONTAIN toassess the containment conditions at vessel breach. TheRELAP5/SCDAP predictions of the temperature andmass flow rates of water, steam, and hydrogen from theRCS and RPV failure time used as inputs to theCONTAIN calculations.
