Abstract:
The air pollution especially by particulate matter (PM) is one of the most important problems in mega cities such as Tehran in Iran. Urban green spaces can mitigate the impact of PM and gaseous pollutants. This research was done by five important tree species that are very familiar to cultivating in street sides. The PM on the leaves all of them and total carbon along with PM were analyzed. Results indicate on the higher potential of Platanus orientalis and Morus alba in PM uptake among them. While for total carbon uptake the leaves of Platanus orientalis had a higher potential in compare with Morus alba. It be concluded that among studied species, Morus alba and Platanus orientalis are suitable for PM and total carbon uptake on their leaves together.
