A New Method for Detection of Partial Discharge in Power Cables abstract

In this paper, a new method for Partial Discharge location in power cable is presented which is based on Pattern Recognition-Based with using a signal processing algorithm that is Mathematical Morphology Gradient Algorithm. The main features of this method are On-Line Measuring , Location/Zone Detection and Non-Synchronized Data for partial discharge in power cables. In addition, the features’ ability for data classifying, using Decision Tree, are compared. Furthermore, from the tasks point of view, the proposed method has been compared with two conventional and mostly referred PD location methods which are named Time Domain-Based and Amplitude-Frequency . Finally, a complete scheme of the proposed method for PD location in noisy circumstance is illustrated
