The relationship between self-efficacy and academic procrastination with general health of university students majoring in physical education at Azad University of Tehran Province

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between self-efficacy and academic procrastination with general health of university students majoring in physical education in Azad University of Tehran Province. Materials and methods: For this purpose, 341 students (175 males, 154 females and 12 no response) were asked to complete Self- Efficacy Scale (Sherer & Maddux, 1982), Academic Procrastination Assessment Scale (Solomon & Rothblum, 1984) and General Health questionnaire (Goldberg & Hilder, 1979). Result and discussion: The results of the Pearson correlation between variables showed no significant relationship between self-efficacy and general health, whereas a significant difference between procrastination and general health, between its components and procrastination, was observed. Conclusion: According to the study results, we recommended that university students should pay more attention to procrastination so that they can reduce it in performing their tasks and improve two other variables, i.e. academic self-efficacy and general health
