Abstract:
There are complex movements for pipelines at seabed such as vertical and horizontal movements. Also there are no theoretical solutions for stress distribution beneath pipelines under vertical movements. A comprehensive experimental tests had been undertaken in Cambridge University in order to make an understand about soilpipeline interaction in touchdown points. In a part of this research five pore pressure transducers had been installed on pipe body in order to measure the pore pressure during the vertical movements. These measurements can give a pattern of stress distribution beneath the pipe. Based on these results, a simple theoretical solution for stress distribution under vertically moved pipe in clay has been presented. The obtained values are compared with the results of experimental measurements in order to verifying the proposed solution. A good agreement was obtained between experimental results and suggested equations
