Low crosstalk and low insertion loss 43-channel AWG Demultiplexer abstract
In this paper, the crosstalk reduction and insertion loss of the 43-channel arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) with two central wavelengths of 1550 nm and 1310 nm is presented. The AWG demultiplexer has 16 channels with channel spacing of 1.6 nm and 27 channels with channel spacing of 0.66 nm. The waveguides are considered taper and the arrayed waveguides follow a certain rule. Considering the crosstalk and insertion loss, 120 different arrayed waveguides have been selected. The insertion loss for the 16-channel AWG at central channel and the adjacent channels are 0.6 dB and 1.5 dB, respectively. In this case, the crosstalk value of these channels varies from -30 dB to -50 dB. In a 27-channel AWG, the insertion loss and the crosstalk range from 1.1dB to 2.05 dB and from -15 dB to -32 dB respectively. The difference between the insertion loss of the central channel and adjacent channels is negligible which leads to a flattened spectral response and additionally increases the information transmission
