ADO-SCFDE and ASCO-SCFDE, Two Novel Modulation Techniques for Visible Light Communication abstract
In this paper, we investigate ADO-OFDM and ASCOOFDM schemes in the presence of nonlinear effects of light emitting diode (LED) for the first time. Moreover, to address thehigh PAPR problem in these methods, we propose two novel optical modulation methods, ADO-SCFDE and ASCO-SCFDE, for indoor visible light communication (VLC). ADO-SCFDE and ASCO-SCFDE are obtained by applying single carrier with frequency domain equalization (SCFDE) to ADO-OFDM and ASCO-OFDM, respectively. Here we make a detailed comparison between the performances of these two proposed methods with their OFDM-based counterparts in terms of bit error rate (BER)versus electrical signal power. Our simulation results indicate that SCFDE-based systems outperform their OFDM-based counterparts due to their less amount of PAPR. The merely complexity which is added to the conventional OFDM scheme is one fast Fourier transform (FFT) block at the transmitter and one inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) block at the receiver side
