Parametric Study on Lubrication of Connecting Rod Big End Bearings abstract

Our study shows that the critical condition for minimum oil film thickness occurs at full load and low engine speed conditions. Results also show that bearing diameter reduction has a major influence on the bearing power loss, but it has no effect on oil temperature rise. Increasing the radial clearance has an important effect on bearing power loss reduction and oil temperature rise. Lastly, high accuracy of obtained results and good agreement with relevant works makes it suitable for real engine design applications.
