Investigation of die temperature effect in thixoforging process of alloy AA7075 abstract
Nowadays semisolid state forming processes are known as a commercial method of great success in the field of near net shape part production.Thixoforging process is one of these processes based on specific behavior of alloys, having non-dendritic microstructure, at partialliquid state. This process is carried out between the substance liquidus and solidus temperature. The die temperature also, has an important role in the process of thixoforging. In this study thixoforging process of alloy AA7075 and the effect of die temperature on the process have been considered using MSC.Superforge software by the finite volume method. The simulation results indicate the effect of die temperature on the workpiece temperature, the forming forces, the material flow, the effective stress and the yield stress in this process.
