MODELING NEAR FACTORY AIR POLLUTANTS LEVELS BY AERMOD: CASE STUDY OF ABYEK, IRAN abstract
The concentration of air pollutants in the environment is variable according to different factors, including distances from main sources. Industries in outskirts are one of the by far most crucial sources of air pollutants. Abyek is one of the most significant cement factories located in the middle of Tehran-Qazvin highway with the stack emitting PM10 up to 70 g/s. The concentrations of PM10 was determined in different distances of factory then the figure between distance and the amount of PM10 was drawn. The concentration gradient figure showed exponential decay, which demonstrated that roughly 50% of air pollutant deteriorated in the distances between 800 to 1000 m of the factory. This is followed by that after 1000 m distance the contents and quantity of particles decreased significantly. The data accuracy was checked by using of AERMOD model. Then SURFER software was used to draw a graphical plume of pollutant in different distances. Therefor living in the distances lower than 1000 m of highways could be potentially harmful for people health.
