Abstract:

One of the effective parameters in performing explosion forming is efficiency of energy transition via transmitting medium. In this paper, metal sheet forming by an explosion load via water, air and soil transmitting mediums is numerically investigated using Autodyn software. Transmitting medium is simulated base on Eulerian method; meanwhile, because of blast wave reflection and wave’s interaction, coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian method is performed. TNT and HNS explosives are used to compare the amount of energy transition in Transmitting Mediums. Results show that water has better performance in explosion forming in compare with air and soil transmitting mediums. Soil performance is weaker than water and better than air as a compressible solid medium. Soil transmitting medium shows better performance by increasing the explosive material. The numerical procedure is verified comparing the results with experimental data within approximated error of 12 percent.
