Optimal Placement and Capacity of Distributed Generations in Distribution Systems under Uncertainty based on scenario modeling abstract

In recent years, the trend towards renewable distributed generation has been increasing. Fossil fuels cause air and environmental pollution while renewable DGs are clean, safe, reliable and available. In this paper the optimal location and capacity of DG units in distribution network is done using Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm. The problem formulation minimizes the investment cost, operational and maintenance cost and cost of active power losses. It is assumed that all the DG units are wind turbines. The uncertainty of wind speed is due to its natural intermittency, so the power generation of DG units will be variable. The proposed procedure is getting probability distribution function of wind speed and solve problem with scenario based modeling. IEEE 33 bus test system is chosen as study case and the results are illustrated that placing DG units in distribution system reduce active and reactive power losses and improve voltage profile.
