Antioxidant activity of methanol extract of the Scutellaria multicaulis Boiss

Scutellaria is a geographically widespread and diverse genus blongs to the Lamiaceae family of herbaceous plants commonly known as skullcaps.Scutellaria is known to possess different pharmacological properties and is used widely as an ethnobotanical herb for the treatment of various ailments ranging from cancers, cirrhosis, jaundice, hepatitis, anxiety and nervous disorders.Methanol extract of Scutellaria multicaulis Boiss. was screened for antioxidant activities. Methanol extract of Sc. multicaulis exhibited a significant concentration dependent inhibition of DPPH radical. Furthermore, this plant showed very high reducing power.
