THE NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF FLOW FIELD AND HEAT TRANSFER OVER A ROTATING DISK WITH HYDROMAGNETIC EFFECTS abstract

The main purpose of this paper is the investigation of hydro magnetic steady flow and heat transfer characteristics of an incompressible viscous fluid over a rotating disk numerically. The governing equations have been solved by in-house computational fluid dynamics code. On the other hand, the second law of thermodynamics has been applied to the mentioned flow in the presence of an externally applied uniform vertical magnetic field. The velocity profiles in radial, tangential and axial directions, temperature distribution have been obtained and discussed in more details. The numerical results shown that by increasing the Hartman number, the average Nusselt number decreases and also the average moment coefficient increases.Finally, the numerical results and those of previously published studies have been compared and it was concluded that there is a good agreement between them.
