Abstract:

The chemical, physical, and biological properties of chitosan and β-glycerophosphate biocomposites were assessed in this research. The results revealed that in combination with β-glycerophosphate and due to its amine groups, chitosan can build a scaffold with desirable biological characteristics. As chitosan should be dissolved in an acidic range, at the first stage, it reached a desirable by pH help of the β-glycerophosphate salt. After proper drying, it gave rise to a thin film which according to the investigation, showed suitable bio-activity owing to the presence of appropriate compounds for growth and also cell differentiation. Since the chitosan must be dissolved in an acidic pH, it should reach target pH by adding β-glycerophosphate in four different amounts of solution, and after that, it turns into a gel. Due to the tests result it’s a good platform for plant and growth and even the stem cell differentiation due to those experiments. In the tensile test results, elongation increased with increasing β-glycerophosphate. In the SEM images of the high amounts of β-glycerophosphate, a good shrinkage observed that is good place for stem cell plantation. Thin films for all contents of β-glycerophosphate showed high percentage of water absorption and degradability. In MTT assay, CG1.5 and CG2 didn’t show noticeable toxicity. This thin film due to the reside of amine group and β-glycerophosphate can proper desire physical, biocompatibility and biodegradability characteristics.
