Abstract:
Decreasing the fossil fuel reservoirs along with environmental damage of combustion products cause to search green and renewable sources for energy providing in industries and houses. Hydrogen as a fuel is one of the best alternatives for fossil fuels. Hydrogen can be produced using a number of different processes. Some thermal processes use the energy in various resources, such as natural gas, coal, or biomass, to release hydrogen from their molecular structure. In other processes, heat, in combination with closed-chemical cycles, produces hydrogen from feedstock such as water. Microorganisms such as bacteria and microalgae can produce hydrogen through biological reactions, using sunlight or organic matter. These technologies pathways are at an early stage of research, but in the long term have the potential for sustainable, low-carbon hydrogen production. In this paper hydrogen production via steam reforming of methane is investigated. The simulation results show that separation of produced hydrogen provides a significant energy source for mentioned process.
