Experimental study of the distribution of 3-D velocity components inside a sine-generated sharp open bend abstract

In this paper, the distribution of velocity components inside a sine-generated sharp open bend has been investigated experimentally. For this purpose, three dimensional flow velocities were measured using Acoustic Doppler Velocity meter. The velocity was measured in 360 different nodal points inside the physical model. It was found that the position of maximum tangential velocity is not fixed in all cross sections and it occurs near the outer bank in cross section 1 and it moves towards inner bank in other cross sections. As a result, the flow structure and contour lines of velocity components will be affected by the preceding and subsequent bends
