Abstract:
In the present work, The ability of populus euphratica leaves as a low cost adsorbent for the removal of Methylene blue (MB) dye was studied. The effects of initial dye concentration, contact time, amount of adsorbent and pH on removal of Methylene blue at temperature of 30 Co were investigated. The results indicated that the amount of dye adsorbed increased with decrease in initial dye concentration. The amount of dye adsorbed also decreased with increasing amount of the adsorbent. Optimum contact time was determined for dye adsorption for 10 minutes. Accordingly, the leaves of populus euphratica was shown to be a very efficient and low-cost adsorbent, for removing dyes from industrial wastewaters.
