Suspended sediment modeling using adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system abstract

Modeling suspended sediment load is an important factor in water resources engineering as it crucially affects the design and management of hydraulic structures. In this study the Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) technique was applied for modeling daily suspended sediment load in two stations on Cumberland River in U.S.A. Daily flow and sediment data from 1972 to 1989 were used to train and test the applied ANFIS models. Good feasibility of ANFIS in modeling of suspended sediment load, was confirmed using the statistical criterion of coefficient of determination, root mean squared error and adjusted coefficient of efficiency.
