Abstract:
Network on chip (NoC) performance largely depends on the underlying routing techniques. Routing algorithms can be divided in two groups as adaptive and deterministic. Deterministic algorithms always make specified path between source and destination nodes without any attention to network traffic condition. In opposite, in adaptive routing algorithms, routing is carried out based on network traffic condition, trying to find an alternating route for packets when there is congestion in some part of network. In this paper we present an adaptive–deterministic routing algorithm for NoC which is able to increases performance and throughput of NoC by combining properties of the two types of algorithms stated above.
