Optimum Reactive Power Management Based on Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm under Deregulated Environment abstract
This paper proposes a practical marketbased reactive power ancillary service management scheme to tackle the challenge. The proposed model minimizes the reactive power costs as an economic aspect and insures the voltage security as a technical view. The voltage stability margin isincorporated in to the power flow equations to maintain the power system in a secure operating state where a sudden load variation occurs. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used to solve the problem of optimum allocation of reactive power in power systems under Deregulated environment. The performance of the proposed model is validated on IEEE-30 bus power system. Results demonstrate that the algorithm is well competent in achieving the optimal allocation of reactive power.
