Abstract:

Today, with the complexity of urban structures, citizen participation in the affairs of cities is no longer a choice, and not even the right to citizenship, but requires the implementation and advancement of affairs. This need is also essential in the process of modernizing urban worn out tissues as a major approach to urban development. Yazd city has spread a wide area of worn out texture and has caused problems for residents. In this regard, the purpose of this study was to examine the economic, social, environmental and institutional factors affecting the inclination of Yazd residents to participate in the process of modernization. To this end, 384 questionnaires were distributed among residents of the study area. The results of this questionnaire in SPSS software showed that residents willingness to participate was moderate, and the lack of an image of the future of the neighborhood after the renovation process was the most important introduction, which had a strong impact on the reduction of willingness to participate
