Abstract:

In this paper the bending behavior of 3D integrated weft-knitted sandwich composites (3DIW-KSCs), with two cross sectional shape (rectangular and triangular) had been simulated by a macro mechanic model. The Hashin failure theory was used in model for prediction of failure initiation in 3DIW-KSCs. The results showed that the established finite element model had the good agreement with experimental results for triangular cross-sectional shape. Beside the Hashin failure theory had been well predicted the failure initiation in structures. By comparing the stress of the 3DIW-KSCs in different direction concluded that the stiffness of triangular is higher than the rectangular.
