Oxidative Stress and Leaf Senescence abstract

Senescence is an important developmental process in plants that leads to whole plant, organ, tissue or cell death through highly regulated, genetically controlled processes. Biotic and abiotic Oxidative stresses also can artificially induce scenescence in plant and it seems that Same point of all of this stresses and senescence is that they increase produce of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in different organel, specifically in chloroplast. One of the important oxidative stresses is paraquat herbicide that with deviation of electron from photosynthesis electron chain can lead to the produce of much ROS such hydrogen peroxide in chloroplast. Plant have evolved specifically adoptive mechanism by which in senescence and different oxidative stresses can reallocate nutrient to reproductive and juvenile organs.
