Abstract:

Bending analysis of functionally graded polymer nanocomposite circular plate reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets (GPLs) subjected tomechanical load in simply support boundary condition is investigated using differential quadrature method (DQM). The weight fraction varies continuously along the thickness direction. The effective young’s modulus of nanocomposite is calculated by Halpin-Tsai to describe the GPL geometry and dimension. By using three dimension governing equilibrium equations and then combination of them, equation of state space for circular plate is obtained. semi-analytically solution can be derived by applying DQM method to the state space equation along the radical direction. In this study, effects of GPL, thickness to radius, various mechanical loads and graphene distribution pattern along the thickness on the static behavior of GPL nanocomposite circular plate are investigated. The results show that adding GPL nanofillers with a low content into polymer matrix can have a good reinforcing effect on the static behavior of the circular plate.
