Stability Analysis of Electric Power System abstract
One of the major challenges in the power transmission lines is the voltage collapse which causes the instability of the power system. Voltage collapse usually occurs due to the loss of a stable operating point. Reactive power deficiency and significant changes in rotor angle lead to voltage instability. Hence, the power system cannot maintain steady voltages at all the buses in the power system after a disturbance from its initial operation condition. P -V curves and Q-V curves are commonly used to analyze the stability. This paper presents the stability analysis using the load and generation levels as the direction vector for the base system through Continuation Power Flow (CPF) under the normal condition and contingency. Also, the eigenvalues for the upper sides of the P -V curves, as well as the loading factor, have been determined at which a Hopf bifurcation appears in different cases. The simulation and analysis have been performed on the IEEE 14-bus test system in MATLAB/PSAT
