Investigation of graphene refractive index in tera_hertz regime at room temperatures and different scattering rates abstract

Refractive index in Tera-hertz regime is one of the important optical property of mono layer graphene, which can be determined by optical conductivity and permittivity of graphene. In this paper using relative permittivity and susceptibility and optical conductivity of graphene, the refractive index is calculated. Which has real and imaginary parts depending on scattering rate, Fermi energy, and photon energy. The curve of refractive index is plotted as a function of frequency at different scattering rates. Results show that by increasing the scattering rate real part of refractive index, decrease and increase by frequency, but the imaginary part decreases at all frequency regions, this can be explained by considering Landao levels in conduction band, which we have discussed in results section.
