Studying the Effect of Condensing Cover Inclination Angle on Basin Solar Still Performance Using CFD abstract
Usage of renewable energies such as solar energy is not only commodious as point of economic; it also is effective in reduction of pollutants and environment preservation. Lack of water is one of the most important problems in human society. Nowadays, use of solar energy has become a common way for production of fresh water in solar distillation equipments. However, for increasing efficiency of these equipments, we need a comprehensive modeling and investigation of effective parameters on efficiency such as inclination angles of condensing cover. In this article the effect of inclination angles of condensing cover on operation of basin solar still was investigated using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Simulations were carried out for glass angles of 15°, 30° and 45°. The passive solar still with inclination of 45° gave better performance and higher yield. Results were compared with experimental data of basin solar still and were in good agreement. Hence CFD is a powerful tool in design of solar stills and studying effective parameters on their performance and efficiency.
