Abstract:

Subcooled flow boiling is utilized in many industrial applications where large heat transfer coefficients are required. In this study, the mini-channel effects on nanofluid subcooled flow boiling investigated, experimentally. An experimental setup consisting of a Plexiglas channel was designed and manufactured. Two cylindrical heaters made of brass are located at the bottom surface of the channel, and water-alumina nanofluids with concentration of 0.25 vol.% is used for the working fluid. The experimental results show that rough surface has better heat transfer performance with respect to smooth surface, meanwhile, mini-channels have better heat transfer performance than the rough surface.
