Global Trends in Smart City Subject: Mapping & Bibliometric Analysis

The objective of this study was to investigate the trend of the literature related to smart city. Particularly, this study asses the growth in publications, international collaboration, author productivity, emerging topics and the mapping of frequent terms in publications pertaining to smart city. Publications related to smart city published between 1991 and 2019 were obtained from the Web of Science. The records extracted were analysed for bibliometric characteristics by HistCite software and the mapping of frequent terms in publications pertaining to smart city in the field of psychology. VOSviewer v.1.6.5 was used to construct scientific maps. Results show smart environment, smart government and smart mobility are global trend in smart city subject. Italy is most productive country and English is most used language. Proceeding papers are most document type that have been published.
