Abstract:
The problem of crack modeling in 2D orthotropic media is considered. The Element Free Galerkin (EFG) method has been adopted for modeling and analyzing a crack and its domain numerically. In this method, first the EFG model with consideration of modification of weight functions created and then the two-dimensional orthotropic enrichment functions used in eXtended Finite Element Method (XFEM) are added to enrich theEFG approximation for increasing the accuracy. Mixedmode stress intensity factors (SIFs) are evaluated to determine the fracture properties of domain and to compare the proposed approach with other available methods. The SIFs are obtained by means of the interaction integral (M-integral). A numerical simulation is performed to verify the approach, and the accuracy of the result is compared with other numerical or (semi-) analytical methods.
