Abstract:

Background and Aim : With regarding the high prevalence of high risk behaviors in adolescents, in recent decades, many studies have been conducted on the role of risk and protective factors on risky behaviors in adolescents. The purpose of the present study was predicting the high risk behaviors in high school students based on the role of peer and controls of parent. Methods : The statistical population of this study included all the female and male students of the shahreyar of Tehran who were studying in high school during the academic year 2017-2018. The sample size of the study was 325 individuals, and the age range of the participants was 14 to 18 years old. The sampling performed in a simple random sampling, and the participants of this study completed the socio-mental protective and risky behaviors scale. Data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis, stepwise method, and SPSS-24 statistical software. Results : The results showed that there was significant positive relationship between deviant peers and tendency to high-risk behavior and negative relationship between parents monitoring with high-risk behavior. In general, predictor’s variables predict about 20 per cent of dependent variable. Conclusion : This study showed that the relationship with Delinquent peers cnn be considered as risk factor, and in the other hand, parents monitoring as protective factor can predict high-risk behavior in adolescents.
